The Attaché carries the Mission's work across the human rights and global health portfolio, following the Human Rights Council, the treaty bodies to which the Holy See is a State Party, and the World Health Organization. The role involves attending sessions, negotiating on resolutions and texts, drafting statements, and preparing position papers and legal background notes, with particular attention to bioethics and to marriage, family and life questions, grounded in the social doctrine of the Church.
The Mission is looking for a candidate with a strong background in international human rights law, international law, the law of international organizations, treaty law or global health; experience of multilateral diplomacy; and a deep knowledge of Catholic social doctrine, able to articulate it with conviction in a secular setting. Full professional English is required; other official languages of the United Nations are an asset.
The post is based in Geneva and begins on 4 January 2027, on a twelve-month fixed-term contract renewable in light of performance.
